The Axe FAQs

Answers to commonly asked questions.

What is Axe Throwing?

Mostly, it’s a lot of fun. Throwers can come as singles, pairs or groups, and you’ll get assigned to a lane. Your dedicated Axepert will teach you how to safely hold and throw your axe at your dedicated target. Then, chuck it! Points are scored based on where your axe lands on the target.

What should I wear?

Throwers must wear closed-toed shoes and comfortable clothes. Avoid wearing loose/baggy clothing and accessories.

Is it family friendly?

Anyone is welcome to enter our facility, but you must be at least 5 years old to throw axes. Visitors 18 and younger must have a parent/guardian or responsible adult sign a waiver and be present throughout the session. Before visitors under 18 can throw axes, they must demonstrate they are able to throw from our safety line and understand and follow the safety rules. This test-out will occur under the supervision of a Axepert prior to group throwing. Anyone under the age of 18 who cannot demonstrate capability and competence will not be allowed to axe throw.

Is it safe?

Yes. If you use the proper throwing technique shown to you by our trained staff, not only is Axe Throwing safe—it’s also more fun because you’ll be sticking that target like a pro!

Sure, there may be more risk of injury while throwing axes than there would be while picking daisies or sitting at the movies, but Axe Throwing is a safe and exciting activity when done properly. That’s why at 865 Axe Throwing we provide guests with the following:

  • Constant supervision and available coaching from trained staff
  • Information on the potential risks

When should I arrive?

Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your booking to allow time to fill out the waiver. If a group does not check in within 5 minutes of their reservation, the reservation will be cancelled without refund and may be offered to walk-in guests.

Can I bring my own items to throw (axes, knives, throwing stars, etc.)?

You can bring your own axe if you wish. Before use, your Axepert will inspect your axe to ensure it is in sound condition. We also have axes that are provided with your lane rental. Knives, throwing stars and other throwing objects are prohibited.

Are outside food and beverages allowed?

You are welcome to bring food and beverages with you. There will be a selection of soda, candy, chips and snacks available for purchase.

Can I bring my own alcohol?

You can bring in your own beer, cider and wine. Hard liquor is not permitted. Limit of one (1) 750 ml bottle of wine or one (1) 6-pack of beer or cider per 2 guests. We have menus on hand for local restaurants with fast delivery. All BYOB guests are subject to lawful ID checks and bag checks at the manager’s discretion. 865 Axe Throwing reserves the right to cease to provide services to or eject any individuals or group of individuals that fail to abide by these rules and regulations. Bottom line: don’t be an axe. Please throw, and drink, responsibly.

Are gift certificates available?

Please visit our office for more information or purchase Gift Cards online HERE.

Can I bring my pet?

Pets are not permitted on the premises. Trained service and support animals only please.

Can I bring my scout group or other youth group?
